Cependant, la production de nanovapeur n\u00e9cessite d'importantes quantit\u00e9s d'\u00e9nergie, ce qui r\u00e9duit l'efficacit\u00e9 globale du proc\u00e9d\u00e9. Ceci incite les scientifiques \u00e0 rechercher des solutions plus rapides\u00a0: produire de la vapeur sans d\u00e9penser trop d'\u00e9nergie.  <\/p>\n<p>En suspendant des nanoparticules absorbant la lumi\u00e8re dans l'eau, des chercheurs de l'Universit\u00e9 Rice parviennent \u00e0 transformer les mol\u00e9cules d'eau qui les entourent en vapeur, tandis que l'eau restante conserve sa temp\u00e9rature inf\u00e9rieure. Ainsi, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re, il est possible de produire de la vapeur sans augmenter la temp\u00e9rature de l'eau.
